A versatile Indian classical dancer, 'Nritya Shri' awardee, Mousumi has carved out a name for herself today as one of the most sought-after Kathak dancers & Teacher in India.

 

Mousumi is a trained in Kathak from the tender age of 4 for over a period of 20 years. She is a Kathak Teacher, Performer and choreographer. She got her initial Training in Ras Kala sangeet Mahavidyalay Katni under Anurag ji (1987- 1992 ) Sharda Sangeet Mahavidyalaya Jabalpur under Beena Thakur ji ( 1992-1999 ) , Nritya Bharti Pune under Guru Smt. Rohini Bhate ji ( 1999-2001), National Institute Of Kathak Dance Delhi ( 2002- 2007 ) Diploma Hons. Under the tutorage of Guru. Smt. Urmila Nagar ji of Jaipur Gharana and Post Diploma Under the guidance of world renowned Kathak Maestro Guru. Smt . Geetanjali lal ji.

A recipient of merit scholarship of Kathak Kendra, the National Institute of Kathak, New Delhi, a gold medalist, an empaneled teacher / performer of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Mousumi was deputed to South America(Guyana) by Indian Council for Cultural Relations to teach and perform at the Indian Cultural Centre from 2009 - 2011 and to Dushanbe ( Tajikistan)  from year 2014 -2016  where she choreographed many dance sequences for different organizations like the Ministry Of Culture , youth and sports, Office of the President etc. and taught  Students from different age groups in Guyana and Ministry of Culture Tajikistan. 

 

Mousumi has also taken workshops of kathak in United Kingdom (2006) South America ( 2009-11) , USSR and Doha. And has been aired in Meer T.V of Russia for her teaching skills in 2015.
