One of India's oldest and most esteemed music schools, Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal was founded in 1901. The Mandal was established by famous musicologist Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande with the intention of conserving and advancing Indian traditional music.
The Mandal has produced a number of well-known artists over the years, including as Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Jasraj, and Kishori Amonkar. The Mandal provides a variety of University Grants Commission-approved courses in Indian classical music (UGC).

A recipient of merit scholarship, Gold medalist and Empanelled Teacher cum performer of ICCR (Indian Council for cultural relations)She has served in Georgetown's (South America) and Tajikistan's ( CIS) Indian cultural centre under Embassy of India as a Cultural Ambassador and Kathak Guru. She has traveled to the U. K, US, Sri Lanka, Russia and Gulf Countries to give workshops and performances.
Smt. Mousumi Saha has founded Kathakalaya with the hope of making Kathak Education a part of maximum children's lives .

This is Purabi Banerji from Ontario, Canada. I have been associated with Kathakalaya from December-2021. I met my mentor Ms. Mausumi Saha in Doha, Qatar in 2019, when I enrolled for ‘in person’ Kathak classes. I’m an educator by profession and after traveling to Canada, I found it hard to continue my learning. Kathakalaya provided me the option of online lessons at my convenience - twice a week via Zoom. My name is Kaashmeera Pattani I live in Kerala, India. I am a physiotherapy student. I started taking kathak classes from Mousumi ma'am a year ago. I been wonderful journey with ma'am. Kathak journey- Started her Kathak journey at a tender age of 6 years old from 2019 June by Mrs .Mousumi Saha. Her Mastery in teaching such young kids and making them understand was very impressive .Mousami mam made sure they practiced and also sent recording of the video so that kids and parents can sit with them and understand the steps and make them practice. Though its online its been a fabulous journey between the teacher and the student.
It makes us feel proud that we have taken a good decision that our kids are in good hands and in a way they will reach the desired goal.
